HRC Partners Lead the Way from Robotics Camps to High-Tech Conferences

The Heartland Robotics Cluster (HRC) has been actively fostering innovation and education across the region. From the appointment of Erin Sorensen, MBA, at Northeast Nebraska Community College's iHub to the rapid progress of the iHub's construction, HRC partners are making significant strides in technological advancement. This summer's robotics camps inspired young minds, while a new drone course pilot program is equipping educators with cutting-edge skills. Looking ahead, the Heartland Robotics and Automation Conference 2024 promises to be a premier event, bringing together leaders and innovators in the field. 


 

New Hire at NECC iHub 

We are delighted to share that Erin Sorensen, MBA, has joined Northeast Community College to lead the iHub team. Erin brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role, where she will drive forward their mission of innovation and excellence. IHub Construction Update 

In addition to their expanding team, the construction of the iHub is progressing swiftly and promises to place Northeast Community College at the forefront of technological innovation in downtown Norfolk. This state-of-the-art facility, once completed, will offer students and the community unprecedented access to cutting-edge resources to develop hardware and prototype solutions. Summer Camps Inspire Future Innovators 

This summer, NECC iHub hosted a series of robotics camps for grade school students, igniting a passion for technology and engineering in young minds. These camps provided hands-on experiences with robotics, promoting teamwork, problem-solving skills, and creativity. Explore the impact of their summer camps here: Robotics Camps


Drone Course Pilot at Nebraska Innovation Studio 

In collaboration with Nebraska Innovation Studio, a new drone course was piloted to equip educators with the skills necessary to integrate drone technology into their classrooms. This three-day program is designed to prepare teachers for the FAA Aeronautical Knowledge Test, also known as the Part 107 exam, which is required to operate drones commercially. The course includes comprehensive training on drone regulations, airspace laws, weather, and hands-on flying time. This initiative is part of the Heartland Robotics Cluster, aimed at expanding robotics training and enhancing STEM education across the region.
